Life Group Questions - Sunday, August 27th
*Discussion Questions:
1. Have you ever been convinced of something only to find out you were wrong? Andrew told the story about Scattegories and New Potatoes. What story do you have of realizing you were wrong about something? Have you ever run into the kind of truth where you had to make significant changes to your life? Share. What did it look like to re-route?
2. When faced with truth, we were encouraged this morning to ask ourselves, "Am I going to ignore it? Dismiss it? Or actually allow it to change me?” What are the problems with ignoring and dismissing truth? Why is ignoring/dismissing truth still a temptation, despite the problems we just listed? Read James 1:22-25. How is this passage relevant to our discussion?
3. What’s so good about being “born again”? If time, look at the following passages and ask that question: 1st Peter 1:3-4, 23-25; 1st John 3:9-10; 1st John 5:4). From personal experience, what is it like to be born again? What changes in you? In what ways are you like a newborn child?
4. Read John 3:16-17. According to Jesus, what is his identity and purpose? If Jesus didn't come with the purpose of condemning, what might that mean for us and our purpose?
